Jenna Lanier, Owner and Designer
Jenna Lanier always had gardening in her bones. From a young age she could be found pruning shrubs and trees in her parents’ yard, substituting dolls for a set of pruning sheers and a bag of mulch.
Before embarking on her career in landscape design, Jenna studied art history at Amherst College. After graduating she honed her eye for design working at the National Gallery of Art for many years. During that time, Jenna studied and practiced landscape design, drawn to the rich and lasting history of gardening. She focused first on seasonal projects for friends and family in diverse locations such as Santa Barbara, CA; East Hampton, NY; Paris and of course, Washington, DC.
Jenna discovered a passion for creating beautiful, peaceful and personal outdoor spaces. She also delighted in learning the unique style and needs of her clients, whether it was a classic cottage garden, a modern Zen motif, or a French formal landscape... each project was a true collaboration.
Jenna soon realized that this was her trade, and it was time to lean in. In 2013 Jenna launched Lanier Landscapes to provide clients in the Greater DC Area with the fulfillment that comes with an extraordinary outdoor design and garden.
In the hours not filled by landscape design, Jenna enjoys nothing more than spending time in her own garden with her husband, three children, and lab, Bella. She also volunteers as a member of the Garden and Grounds Board of the Chevy Chase Club, and with several schools in the area, including the Washington International School and CCBC preschool. She has a great passion for designing outdoors spaces for children to experience and learn through.
